Although it wasn’t possible for students, administrators and teachers to reach their school buildings during the 10-day hiatus after Hurricane Sandy, the time off was anything but a vacation. A Board of Education meeting at the Steele School on Nov. 14 allowed parents, board trustees and other community members a chance to catch up on what’s been happening at Baldwin schools. more

Baldwin High School sent off the class of 2013 in grand style last week. The beautiful weather made it possible for the ceremony to be held outside, which left plenty of room for tossed mortarboards. more
“Homecoming” usually conjures images of colorful parade floats and hard-fought football games, but for the students, faculty and staff of East Rockaway and Lawrence high schools, the term has a more basic meaning: the return to their respective school buildings after months of repair following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. more
