Take that! Ralph Rose, co-president of Baldwin’s Chamber of Commerce, volunteered to be on the receiving end of the pie-toss at Saturday’s Baldwin-palooza. A collection of auction participants paid $440 to smack Rose in the kisser with a cream pie — money that will benefit Baldwin schools. Above, Courtney Gross did the honors, and Rose survived with a smile. The event raised $20,000.

Baldwinpalooza, the concert that assembled local talent for an all-day performance to benefit Baldwin schools last weekend, raised more than $20,000 — a figure that may increase as additional vendors turn in their percentages. Martha Wash, a Baldwin resident and the voice behind ’80s and ’90s dance hits like “Everybody, Everybody” and “It’s Raining Men,” will headline Baldwinpalooza on Aug. 17. Wash will be joined by a host of other music groups with connections to Baldwin.
