Lockout lifted at three Baldwin schools

Posted

Three Baldwin Schools - Baldwin Senior High School, and the Brookside and Plaza elementary schools - were in a condition of lockout for approximately 50 minutes today. The condition, district sources say, was enacted due to "police activity in the area" and lasted from about 11:50 a.m. until 12:40 p.m.

According to the school district, the precaution was taken because an individual with a weapon was detected by police in the area of the three schools. The suspect did not enter school grounds, and lockout was established to prevent anyone entering or leaving while the danger was present.

The district used email and the Blackboard Connect telephone message system to keep parents abreast of developments in the situation. The students are now proceeding about their days without restriction.
