Baldwin High School recently celebrated its Homecoming with a demonstration of Bruins pride, starting off with the Spirit Week themes of Flashback ’90s, Super Heroes, and Blue and Gold Day from October 5-8.
A pep rally was held Oct. 7, during which the school community assembled on the bleachers to kick off Homecoming Weekend. Students Montia Moon and Marcus Brown emceed, with Krys Wilson introducing the event.
The varsity cheerleaders rallied the fall sports teams as they ran onto the field, including girls’ varsity field hockey, co-ed varsity cross-country, girls’ varsity soccer, boys’ varsity soccer, girls’ varsity tennis and girls’ varsity volleyball. In addition, there were performances by the step team and the captains of all the teams performing their annual “Captains’ Dance.” The pep rally ended with the coronation of the Homecoming Court: Lady Ameara Vanommeren-Briggs and Lord Yaw Bonsu; Duchess Cyarah Velez and Duke Kenroy Cummings; Princess Maggie Thibault and Prince Dylan Ferguson; and Queen Michaela Frazier and King Danny Pulis.
At Homecoming on Oct. 8, Baldwin defeated Oceanside 35-24. The U.S. Marine Corps presented the flag. The Baldwin elementary, middle and high school bands played separately and together for the half-time performance.
