Baldwin Public Library Director Overton departing for RVC

After 16 years, Catherine Overton, Director of the Baldwin Public Library, is leaving. Overton will take over at the Rockville Centre library, but says she will always remember her time in Baldwin with a smile. “I’ve had an amazing time at the Baldwin Library,” Overton said last week. “It’s a wonderful community and I had a great staff and a supportive Board. I’m going to miss everyone.”

Joan Morris, BPL Assistant Director, was appointed acting director of the library at a special board meeting on Aug. 19. She will remain in that role until a new director can be found. Overton, whose last day at the BPL will be Sept. 6, said, “The Board of Trustees has begun the search for a new director and will continue steering the library along its progressive path.”

Also on Aug. 19, library Board of Directors Trustee Christopher Villanti resigned his position for personal reason.

The next regularly scheduled public meeting of the Library Board of Trustees will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18. For more information, see www.baldwinpl.org or call
