Investigation leads to four arrests

Four people, including two from Baldwin, were arrested early last Saturday when an investigation of a suspicious vehicle parked in Rockville Centre resulted in a policeman finding crack cocaine, Xanax and counterfeit money.

According to detectives, a Rockville Centre police officer was conducting an investigation of a suspicious 2002 Honda in municipal parking lot number 8, located on South Park Avenue, at 1:52 a.m. on Aug. 23. During the investigation it was determined that all four occupants of auto were in possession of crack cocaine and numerous Xanax pills. Steven J. Loetterle, 31, and Michael Rapaport, 40, of Baldwin, and Caitlyn M. Holahan, 26, and Kristy L. Purzak, 25, of Oceanside were placed into police custody without incident.

A subsequent investigation revealed that 18 counterfeit $20 bills were discovered under the front passenger seat. Defendants Holahan and Purzak each had one counterfeit $20 bill in their possession as well. There were no injuries reported.

Loetterle was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts criminal possession of a forged instrument. Rapaport was charged with four counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Purzak was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument. Holahan was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument.

All four defendants were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 24.
