Man arrested in ID con

A Baldwin man was arrested for fraudulently using the identity of another male in order to rent a house in Baldwin, police said.

According to detectives, the defendant Michael P. Rumph, 34, fraudulently used the identity of a male victim by forging a paystub, along with a false letter from the victim’s employer to establish financial security to rent a house in Baldwin. The First Squad detectives located Rumph at his residence and placed him under arrest without incident on April 26 at 4:10 p.m.

Rumph was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, second-degree criminal impersonation, and third-degree identity theft.

He was arraigned on April 27 at First District Court in Hempstead.
