Man charged with stalking, endangering a child

Nassau police have charged a Baldwin man with stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said witnesses saw Philip Malfettone, 71, of 3083 Grand Ave., sitting in his parked car on St. Lukes Place on Oct. 6 at 4:16 p.m., watching children and touching himself.

Police from the First Precinct arrived at the scene and the suspect was arrested, they said, adding that witnesses have seen the suspect parked on the block several times in the past. The location is near Baldwin High School and Plaza Elementary School.

Malfettone was charged with four counts of fourth-degree stalking and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. At arraignment on Oct. 9 in First District Court, Hempstead, bond was set at $25,000. Malfettone is scheduled to reappear in court on Oct. 14.
