Man robbed in home invasion

A Baldwin resident was the victim of a home invasion, Nassau County police reported, after he answered a knock at his door Monday night.

According to 1st Squad detectives, two men armed with a handgun knocked on the back door of a Fargo Street home about 10:57 p.m.

When the resident opened the door, the men pushed their way inside.

The victim, 29, fought with the men, sustaining contusions and abrasions to his head, police said. The men took the victim’s wallet containing cash, credit cards and an identification card and then fled on foot to a waiting vehicle on Seaman Avenue.

The vehicle, a dark, four-door sedan, was last seen traveling westbound on Seaman Avenue, and then northbound on Grand Avenue, police said.

The man in the house refused medical aid at the scene. No other injuries were reported, according to police.

Police describe one thief as Hispanic, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 175 pounds. The other man is white, about 6 feet, 3 inches, and weighing about 220 pounds. Police said both men were in their 20s, wearing black winter hats, black masks, black jackets and jeans. No further description is available.
