Robbery suspect captured in Baldwin

The Robbery Squad reports the arrest of Patricia A. Hernandez, 45, of Willow Bend Lane in Baldwin in connection with crimes that occurred in East Meadow, Oceanside and Freeport on March 23, 20 and 16 respectively. She was arrested without incident on Voshage Street in Baldwin on Tuesday, March 25, at 7:45 p.m. with the assistance of the Bureau of Special Operations.

In the East Meadow crime, police say it was Hernandez who entered the TD Bank at 2549 Hempstead Turnpike on March 23 and showed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, she fled the scene in an unknown direction possibly in a dark colored auto. There were six employees and 2 customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

Police say that Hernandez entered Nine West, at 3563 Long Beach Road in Oceanside on March 20. The suspect put her hand in her handbag and presented a demand note. She told the victim to give her the money from the register, to which the victim complied. The suspect exited the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, a handbag and a wallet, entered the passenger side of a black vehicle, possibly a Nissan, before fleeing in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.

According to detectives, Hernandez, armed with a handgun, entered Payless Shoes located at 107 Mill Rd. in Freeport on March 16, approached the cashier and presented a yellow post-it note demanding money. As the victim was complying, she observed a black handgun in the subject's pocketbook. Hernandez, police report, fled the scene by unknown means with an undisclosed amount of cash. There was one additional employee in the store at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was charged with first- and third-degree robberies.
