Fair Suspicious object prompts BHS evacuation

Nassau County Police responded to Baldwin High School Monday morning after a suspicous object was found in a garbage can.

A suspicious object was found inside Baldwin High School on Monday, prompting an evacuation of the building.
Nassau County police reported that they received a call at 11:44 a.m. after an object, thought to be an explosive device, was spotted in a garbage can in the school.
After police units, including the Arson Bomb Squad, responded and conducted an investigation, students and staff were given the OK to return to class at 1 p.m.
As of press time Monday, police had not disclosed what the item was.
