Stepping Back in Time

In the saddle again
Catch a glimpse of the Wild West at Old Bethpage Village in an ode to those days when cowboys ruled. Experience the excitement of that long ago era as these modern day cowboys show off their skills in a horse mounted shooting competition. In this fast action event, the cowboys with single action revolvers are scored on accuracy and time. Mounted contestants compete to see who has the best shot, using two .45 caliber revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared ammunition. Riders must be in full costume — chaps, suspenders, boots, and, of course, cowboy hats — in order to compete. They’ll be back again in October and November.
