Vote ‘yes’ on library budget

Posted

This year’s proposed budget for the Baldwin Public Library isn’t very flashy. It features a modest increase over the current spending plan — just $8 more on the average homeowner’s tax bill — while maintaining and upgrading services at an institution that has become extremely vital to the community.

The library serves as a hub for residents of all ages, and provides information and opportunities that can’t be matched anywhere else in Baldwin. The proposed spending plan, totaling $4.25 million, includes funding to begin replacing windows in the main reading room that date to the 1960s, as well as to upgrade the library’s security and collection infrastructure.

With modest increases for such an important community facility, we enthusiastically support the library’s budget.
