AftermodernisM: Works on Paper
The next in the series that began in June focusing on a group of five contemporary artists, continues with an exploration of the drawing skills and innovations of an even greater number of artists, including those whose work was seen in the summer exhibition. Arnold Newman: Luminaries of the Twentieth Century in Art, Politics and Culture
An exhibit of Arnold Newman’s photographic portraiture highlighting the innovative minds and personalities that gave rise to the ideas and concepts that have shaped our world. Recognized as the “Father of Environmental Portraiture” and influenced by the school of modernism, Newman’s style has changed the photographic portrait. Through Dec. 13. Black and White

Imao Keinen

Land of the Rising Sun: Art of Japan
An original exhibition highlighting Japanese works, from Hofstra University Museum’s permanent collections, spanning the 16th through 20th centuries. Works include woodblock prints, hand-painted scrolls, and wood carvings with a focus on artistic traditions of various eras of Japanese culture. Through Feb. 2. Peter Max

Using the Lessons of the Holocaust to Teach Tolerance
