Summer’s just about over and it’s time to pick up the books again – except for the members of the Baldwin Public Library’s Summer Reading Club, who celebrated the season’s end by ditching their books and hitting a show on Aug. 18.

According to children’s librarian Martha Garvey, 249 kids completed the program and received Powerful Readers badges at the End of Summer Show, held at Baldwin Middle School. In addition, there were plenty of munchies, and five young readers won gift cards in the raffle: Shannon Mentz, in Grade 4 at St. Agnes School, Baldwin; Nicole Ezefili, Grade 2, Plaza School; Ellyana Yenque, Grade 4, Lennox School; Greg DeGraff, Grade 4, Meadow School; Ava Sclafani, Grade 1, St. Christopher’s School, and Audrey Lozada, Grade 3, Meadow School.

Music was provided by two-time Grammy nominee Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could and the show featured a conga line that brought everyone on stage.
