Renowned musician, actress, playwright and author Meghan Cary has dedicated the past 20 years to masterfully navigating the twisting and often turbulent road of her passion-fueled career. Now, after releasing her most successful album to date, Sing Louder, which debuted at #6 on the US / International Folk DJ Radio Charts, and her first book Sing Louder: The Stories Behind The Songs, the tour de force will, once again, be pushing the creative boundaries as she unveils her one-woman play to a Sea Cliff audience on September 21.

Chronicling her journey to making music, “On The Way To The Waterfall” will be performed at the Creative Arts Studio of Sea Cliff and will tell Cary’s story of how she finally learned to embraced her life’s purpose. In the play, Cary, who labels herself an “accidental musician,” takes the audience on an emotional ride from studying pre-med at Duke University to working as a successful actor and voice over artist before ultimately picking up a guitar and pen, and earning a “Critic’s Choice Award” from Billboard, with no previous music experience after the devastating passing of her fiancée.

“This play takes a hard look at the way we choose to respond to the inevitable complete derailments in life,” said Cary. “When our lives are shattered by an unforeseen disaster— is it tragedy? Or is the repeated reinventing of oneself what life is all about?”.

“On The Way To The Waterfall” was written by Cary and includes some of her original songs that are integral to the story although she says “it really isn’t a musical by any means.” The play first debuted in Boulder, CO at the Boulder Fringe Fest in 2014 and was then performed at a few pop-up shows in Cary’s hometown of Philadelphia the following year. It immediately received rave reviews from fans and critics alike and was hailed as “raw and powerful” by My Town Colorado.

The Sea Cliff performance will be the first time the show has been remounted since the production and release of Sing Louder. The performance starts at 8 PM and tickets are available at https://meghancarywaterfall.brownpapertickets.com. The Creative Arts Studio of Sea Cliff is located at 256 Sea Cliff Ave., Sea Cliff, NY.
