A man was hit by the driver of a vehicle at the intersection of West Park Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard on Feb. 15 at around 9:30 p.m., fire officials said.

The driver, a Long Beach woman, was travelling westbound on West Park Avenue in a 2017 Toyota when she hit the pedestrian who was walking toward the sidewalk in an unknown direction a few feet in front of the car, said Lt. Eric Cregeen of the Long Beach Police Department.

“She heard a crash, pulled over and called the police,” Cregeen said.

Members of the Long Beach police and fire departments rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside via the Long Beach Fire Department ambulance, Cregeen said.

The victim, a Long Beach resident, suffered a “serious head injury,” Fire Commissioner Scott Kemins said.

The crash caused damage to the front passenger side of the driver’s car, Cregeen said.
