Two Island Park businesses hosted ribbon cuttings on Saturday as Ay Caramba and Mount Joy Physical Therapy celebrated grand openings.

Brothers Juan and Edmund Salazar moved their Ay Caramba restaurant from Long Beach to Island Park last month. The establishment, at 166 Long Beach Road, serves a variety of creative Tex-Mex burritos, quesadillas, tacos and salads.

Members of the Island Park Chamber of Commerce, local elected officials and residents gathered at the restaurant for the special event.

“It was very nice,” Edmund Salazar said. “There were a lot of people here and it went well.” Salazar said they moved to Island Park after being a fixture in Long Beach for 15 years because “it seemed like a perfect choice.”

The day’s celebration continued at Mount Joy Physical Therapy, at 312 Long Beach Road. Steve Lubin is the owner of the facility, which opened in May and has a gym area with tables and two treatment rooms. Lubin said the grand opening went well despite a scare from the weather, and noted that his business helps people manage pain after surgery and often offers them home exercise programs for continued progress when they’re done.

“Our goal is to help people in pain,” Lubin said. “Our goal is striving for excellence one touch at a time.”
