MacArthur community shows school spirit

Posted

North Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown residents came together to celebrate MacArthur High School last weekend. The school hosted a bevy of events last Friday and Saturday to mark Homecoming.

MacArthur is in the Levittown School District, which takes in students from north Wantagh and Seaford. District officials said that a Friday afternoon pep rally, during which the fall sports teams were introduced, set the tone for a weekend of General spirit.

The Homecoming celebration began last Saturday with a parade through north Wantagh and south Levittown. Varsity cheerleaders, the marching band and student clubs organizations marched along the route.

Before the kickoff, the senior football players, marching band, color guard, cheerleaders, MacEttes and their parent escorts were introduced and honored for years of service to the school community.

Members of the Homecoming Court were also introduced. Kevin Tarone and Molly Huggard were crowned king and queen, respectively.

The marching band, under the direction of Joseph Romano, entertained the community during halftime. There were also performances by the award-winning cheerleaders, color guard and dance team.

The Garden City Trojans ultimately came out on top, winning the game 27-3.
