Bellmore Movies becomes Neverland

Posted

Plaza Theatrical Productions has transformed the Showplace at the Bellmore Movies into Neverland this month, as the theater company is in the midst of a six-show run of “Peter Pan.”

Plaza Theatrical Productions, one of Long Island’s largest touring theater companies, is staging the classic tale six times throughout January. The Lynbrook-based troupe has already put on the show in Bellmore on Jan. 10, 11, 17 and 19; the next performances are slated for 11 a.m. on Jan. 24 and 31.

Peter Pan, a character created by the Scottish writer J.M. Barrie, is a mischievous boy who can fly and never grows up. He spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the small island of Neverland as the leader of his gang, the Lost Boys, interacting with mermaids, Native Americans, fairies, pirates and occasionally ordinary children like the Darlings.

Young families flocked to the theater at 222 Pettit Ave. for the company’s most recent production on Jan. 19. Tickets cost $10 per person, and can be purchased at the box office or online at plazatheatrical.com.
