Coleman Country welcomes Olympic champion

To add more perspective as to why campers should continue to dream big — which is one of the camp’s mantras — Coleman asked campers to look no further than Crystal Dunn, a 2009 graduate of South Side High School in Rockville Centre, who last year led the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to the NCAA soccer championship, and was nominated for an ESPY this year for Best Female College Athlete. “She attended a camp that might sound familiar to some of you,” said Coleman. “It’s called Coleman Country Day Camp.”

After being asked what’s next in her career, Wambach said she wants to win the World Cup, which the U.S. women have not done since 1999. However, on Monday, her sights were set on inspiring the young campers. "When I was your age, I was sitting in the same seat you're in,” she said. “Whatever you want to do, do it passionately and love it."
