According to representatives of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, this year was the firs time in Kennedy’s history that all who submitted were selected as semifinalists.

Kennedy students Max Bazil, Arin Forstadt, Claire Kelly, Jennifer Rakhimov, Michael Sternbach and Perri Zilberman were joined by Calhoun students Samantha Hernandez and Sara Samir.

Based on their scientific research presentations, Forstadt and Kelly of Kennedy were selected as finalists and will compete at York College on Feb 19.

JSHS is designed to challenge and engage high school students in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers.
