Valbrook Baseball Camp is designed for aspiring baseball players from ages five through 14 who are looking to improve their skills, learn more about the game, and above all, have fun. This summer, four one-week sessions will take place in three locations.

The camps operate in Valley Stream’s Fireman’s Field, Greis Park in Lynbrook, and Town Park in Merrick. A variety of special clinics are offered to small groups each week, teaching the skill sets needed to become a more effective hitter, pitcher, catcher, infielder and outfielder. What sets Valbrook apart from larger sports camps are the coach to child ratio and the outstanding personalized attention.

“Each child will be more active and have more instruction in one week than they do in a whole season of little league,” said Tony Lombardo, who started Valbrook Baseball Camp with Al Marrazzo in 2002. Lombardo is currently the Varsity Baseball Coach at Valley Stream Central High School. Marrazzo teaches social studies and English at Lynbrook South Middle School, and has been the varsity baseball coach at Lynbrook High School since 2002. Other members of the staff — college athletes, baseball players, coaches, and/or teachers — are all very knowledgeable about the game.

Campers can sign up for one week or all four. Week one, June 27 to July 1, is held at Town Park. Week two, July 11-15, is at Fireman’s Field. Week three, July 18-22, will be at Greis Park. And, again in Town Park, week four will be August 1-5. Campers can opt for a full day, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or just until noon.

Parents or guardians are responsible for the camper’s lunch and transportation. Children must bring their own glove, cleats, bat, hat and sneakers (for indoors). Each child will receive a Valbrook Baseball Camp T-shirt. Team training is also available.
