Let's have more action and less politics
As we head toward a repeat of Thelma and Louise driving toward the cliff, it’s clear that leadership is in short supply these days. Let’s hope someone has the good sense to grab the wheel and step on the brakes.

Al D’Amato, a former U.S. senator from New York, is the founder of Park Strategies LLC, a public policy and business development firm. Comments about this column? ADAmato@liherald.com.

Al, finally you do speak some truth in that when you where in the Senate there was a lot more bi-partisan ship in government. Of course in today's climate where the leaders of both the house and the Senate Republicans looked at it as there job to make Obama a one term President (which they failed at), they seem to have no ability to compromise. They should follow the example of their hero Reagan (who was at best an average president) and compromise, you will remember he raised taxes when needed and governed more to the center.

Remember also that Republican Presidents prior to Cheney would be way to liberal for the insane party of today. Nixon would have been tared and feathered for things like going to China and starting the EPA,if he was leading to today.
