Cops: N. Bellmore man had stolen gun when shoplifting

A North Bellmore man was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of a stolen handgun at a Massapequa Walmart on Feb. 16, according to Nassau County Police.

Officials said that Alexander Hollinsworth, 25, of Washington Boulevard, was allegedly caught shoplifting at the Walmart. When apprehended, they said, he was found to be in possession of a loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, which was reportedly stolen in New York City, a set of metal knuckles, a dagger and prescription pills in a plastic bag.

Hollinsworth was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, possession of burglar tools and petit larceny.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
