Posted

Law enforcement officials investigated an alleged threat to Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick on Monday morning, Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District officials said.

Representatives of the Nassau County Police Department said 1st Precinct officers were dispatched to the school at 9:44 a.m. Police said they had received a call about an individual making threats against the school on Facebook. Police and school officials, however, said their investigation revealed that no threats had been made to any student or the building.

In an official statement, Calhoun representatives said that the district took proactive measures to reach out to the Nassau County Police Department and requested that officers monitor “a suspicious Facebook page.” They also explained that school is proceeding normally.

“There are no interruptions to the school day,” they said on Monday. “The district continues to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the district’s students and personnel.”
