Cops: I.P. man stole nearly $1,000 worth of garden goods

An Island Park man was arrested on Oct. 16 after he reportedly stole fountains and a garden ornament from a local nursery, police said.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., Albert Garfield, 51, allegedly removed two garden fountains and a metal garden ornament, worth nearly $1,000, from the A&T Garden Center on Austin Boulevard, according to Nassau County detectives.

Garfield is charged with third-degree burglary and was arraigned on Oct. 17 at the First District Court in Hempstead.
