Musical director Peter Ceglio conducted the band in a joyous tune.

Even though the weather was a bit nippy, people were feeling warm all over at Centre Avenue Elementary School last Friday as the students and staff, as well as school, local and state officials celebrated Centre Avenue as being honored with the distinction of being a “Blue Ribbon School,” a national award.

The band played, children, teachers and officials

danced, and students, teachers and officials posed for an aerial photo, placing themselves in the shape of a very large blue ribbon.

Principal Timothy Silk credited teachers Marie Lyons and Diane Rafferty with being instrumental in the process of applying for the national Blue Ribbon distinction.
