Franklin students provide helping hand for Haiti victims
Susan Grieco/Herald
Franklin Early Childhood Center students display food they collected that will be shipped to assist the victims of last month's Haiti earthquake.

Students at the Franklin Early Childhood Center in Hewlett helped gathered food supplies for the victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.

On Feb. 1, "Flood Control Inc." a Bohemia-based disaster recovery company, donated a 24-foot box truck to pick up the supplies on front of Franklin, which were then brought to a charity in Brooklyn to be sent to Haiti. Students at Franklin started collections of the food supplies to be sent ti Haiti almost immediately after the earthquake hit on Jan. 12 and advertised the campaign by drawing pictures that were posted on the walls of the school.
