Three members of the Latin Kings street gang were sentenced today for brutally stabbing, beating and kidnapping a member of the Bloods street gang who had entered the window of a Valley Stream home to collect his girlfriend’s belongings in March 2016.

Latin King members Jesus Maldonado, 23, of West Hempstead, and Jonathan Faneytt, 22, of Valley Stream, were sentenced to five years in prison. Both pleaded guilty to kidnapping. Jorge Freire-Romero, 20, of Valley Stream, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. He pleaded guilty to assault.

Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter told reporters last year that the victim was a member of the Bloods street gang and the defendants were members of the Latin Kings.

“This victim was savagely stabbed, pistol-whipped, beaten and kidnapped, and then left for dead outside a hospital,” Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said. “This was a horrifically brutal attack and I thank our prosecutors and the police for bringing these defendants to justice.”

At about 7 p.m. on March 14, 2016, the victim climbed through the window of a house on Jedwood Place in Valley Stream and stated that his girlfriend used to live there and he was going to gather some of her belongings.

Maldonado, Faneytt and Freire-Romero, who were inside the house, heard him come through the window, immediately caught him and began to assault him.

The victim was handcuffed, placed in a bathtub and stabbed repeatedly with a steak knife, according to police. He was then put in a vehicle and driven to Midvale Lane, near Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream, where his attackers left him. The suspects fled, and the victim managed to walk to the hospital. While in the process of standing up, his clothing came off and when he walked into the emergency room, he was naked and bleeding from his stab wounds while still handcuffed. In total, the victim suffered 11 stab wounds, a collapsed lung and a punctured liver.

Nassau County Police interviewed the victim at the hospital. Based on the interview, and additional evidence recovered at the residence, the police arrested all three defendants.
