7/11 vandal arrested after crashing his motorcycle, police say

Police arrested a Levittown man who vandalized a 7/11 on Newbridge Road in East Meadow on Aug. 12 before speeding down Newbridge Road on a motorcycle and crashing it near Poppy Street, according to a report sent out by officials.

Around 3 a.m., Christopher Blando, 23, caused a disturbance inside the 7/11 on Newbridge Road, damaging property inside, police said. On arriving, First Precinct officers spotted him traveling down Newbridge Road on a black 2005 Yamaha motorcycle and without a helmet.

A short while later, police received a 9/11 call reporting a crash at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Poppy Street. Blando was found at the scene and sent to a nearby hospital for serious head trauma, where he was arrested, police said.

Blando is faces charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief among traffic infractions. He was arraigned on Aug. 13 from the hospital and will be arraigned again at the Nassau County First District Court on Sept. 12.
