Bowling for Wishes turns 21

Posted

The Marty Lyons Foundation hosted its 21st Annual Nassau County Bowling For Wishes Fundraiser at AMF Lanes in East Meadow, a charity started by former New York Jet defensive lineman Marty Lyons in 1982 that that fulfills the wishes of children between 3 and 17 who have been diagnosed with a terminal or life threatening illness.

The event was formerly at Massapequa Bowl, but relocated to East Meadow a few years ago. It annually draws a large crowd crowd — as well as thousands of dollars in fundraising — at the alley at the intersection of Front Street and East Meadow Avenue.

The foundation has 10 Chapters granting wishes in 13 states – Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
