On the final day of the Kiwanis year, East Meadow Kiwanians joined the Key Clubs, Builders Clubs and K-Kids in a bowling party to support New York District Kiwanis causes.

The event was planned by East Meadow Kiwanian Lori Kamper in consultation with her husband, Kiwanis Secretary Kevin Kamper, and Service Leadership Co-Chairs New York District K-Kids Administrator Mickie Leamey and Bowling Green K-Kids Advisor Rich Santer.

Nearly 100 Kiwanians and Service Leadership Program members enjoyed bowling, pizza, soda and snacks, raising $700 for Kamp Kiwanis and the Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation.

As agreed to before the event, the first $550 will be used to send the child of a local serviceman or servicewoman to Kamp Kiwanis next summer, while the remaining $150 will be donated to the N.Y. Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation through the Joseph Michael Wuest Service Leadership Fellowship Program.

In recognition of their donation to the Lyme Disease Foundation, each of the five participating Service Leadership Program Clubs will receive a Joseph Michael Wuest Service Leadership Fellowship to present to a deserving club member.

An added benefit of the event was the opportunity for the different Service Leadership Program presidents and officers to meet their counterparts from other schools and K-Family branches, and share service project ideas.
