East Meadow Schools to close on Feb. 9 due to winter storm watch

The East Meadow School District announced on Wednesday that all schools in the district will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 9 in anticipation of the winter storm. 

Superintendent Leon Campo said in a statement that all school activities scheduled for Feb. 9 are canceled. The bond referendum presentation scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the Communications Meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday are also canceled. 

"Please emphasize safety for your children as tomorrow's severe weather will bring about many hazardous conditions," Campo said. 

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch from the late night on Wednesday through Thursday evening. Eight to 12 inches of snow are predicted to fall on some areas of Nassau County, but total amounts are uncertain.
