But her primary hope, Meittinis said, is that better economic times lie ahead for local communities in 2013. “Because of the times, the feeling I’m getting from the residents is they’re a bit downtrodden because of finances, loss of jobs,” she said. “Life is kind of on hold. I’m just hoping that peace will come. I’m looking for peace at all levels. Somehow, some way, we will settle and get back to life as we once knew it.”
