Celebrating July Fourth around the area

Let the fireworks begin – as we get ready to celebrate our nation’s birthday. The pyrotechnics are always awe-inspiring and with July Fourth falling during the week – on Thursday – we can keep the festivities going throughout the week and beyond. Here’s a roundup of the area’s festivities.

Celebrate America at Eisenhower Park
Eisenhower Park is now focal point of the countywide celebration. Thousands are expected to visit the park on Saturday, June 29, to watch as the skies once again fill with fireworks at the county’s annual July Fourth extravaganza.
TD Bank continues as the sponsor of “Celebrate America,” the glittery spectacle at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, which begins at dusk. The fireworks, presented by the world-famous Grucci family, are part of an enjoyable evening in the park that kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with Dean Karahalis and the Concert Pops, featuring guest vocalists Deana Verone and Jim Sergi. followed by Somethin’s Fresh, a local ‘80’s R&B, dance and funk band.
The theater area gates will open at 5 p.m., with the fireworks beginning at nightfall, around 9:30 p.m. Tickets are required for admission to the theater area; the free tickets are available at any TD Bank, while supplies last. There is no formal seating; visitors should bring blankets or chairs. Space is limited and overflow will be directed to other viewing and parking areas.
