Annual PTA council fundraiser set for Monday

The East Meadow Parent Teacher Association Council will honor recently retired music educator Abby Behr and Woodland Middle School Principal James Lethbridge, in addition to several other PTA members, at its 42nd Founders Day Scholarship Dinner on Monday, March 23.

The ceremony will again take place at the Crest Hollow Country Club, at 8325 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds from the dinner go to the PTA Council’s scholarship fund, which are rewarded to deserving East Meadow and W.T. Clarke High School graduating seniors.

Behr ran the East Meadow School District’s music and art program for 25 years, until her retirement on Jan 2. Lethbridge has been the principal at Woodland for 10 years.

The PTA council will also honor PTA members from each of the district’s nine schools, plus SEPTA, who demonstrate the qualities of true child advocates.

The cost of attendance is $50, which includes dinner and drinks. Tickets are still available, said PTA Council president Tracy Allred Pulice, who encouraged community members to attend. “Come celebrate with us and help us honor some wonderful people,” said Pulice.

Those interested in attending can contact Diane Pollack at (516) 735-1522.
