Students get creative with board game-themed floats

W.T. Clarke High School students rolled the dice this year for their annual Homecoming parade, which took place at halftime of last Saturday’s varsity football game against Valley Stream South.

With the Rams boasting a 21-0 halftime lead, the Homecoming procession marched along the outskirts of the field, with each graduating class designing their float to resemble a classic board game.

Cheered on by the hundreds in attendance, the freshman class first emerged in an Operation-themed float. Next, sophomores decorated theirs to mimic the Game of Life, while juniors paid homage to the movie-turned-board game Jumanji. Finally, seniors went with the reliable Candy Land, tossing miniature candy bars into a wave of elementary-grade students who had gathered nearby the perimeter fence to get a closer look.

Next, the Royal Court made its grand entrance, led by Duke and Duchess Javier Lopez and Abby Pineda, and Count and Countess Erjin Choi and Paige Aaronson.

The main event featured a convertible carrying the Homecoming Prince and Princess, Brandon Garcia and Alexis Stobe, and King and Queen, David Langsam and Lauren Bower, warranting another burst of applause from the spectators.

Continuing the excitement, the Rams retook the field, tacking onto their lead en route to a decisive 36-6 victory.
