'Spooktacular' Hauntings
These Halloween festivities are not to be missed by those who need more thrills and chills.

House of Horrors
Thousands of people venture to the Franklin Square Horror each yearm which ranks as one of America’s scariest home haunts. Donations benefit autism and cerebral palsy groups.
This year’s “The Slaughterhouse,” is the house’s most terrifying walk-through ever, according to its creator Joe Allocco, with all sorts of ghoulish surprises that only the Franklin Square Horror can provide. “I’ve been hard at work on this year’s event because of what went on with Hurricane Sandy last year,” Allocco —  aka The Haunt Master  — told Stepping Out. “I wanted to make it extra special this year, so I increased the size of the haunted walk-through, added extra new terrifying props and effects, and really upped the scale of my event.”
Come for a scare, Thursday, Oct. 31, 7-11 p.m. (with rain date, Nov. 1). The house is located at 1148 Norbay St. Franklin Square. (516) 424-9555 or visit www.joea65.wix.com/franklin-square-horror for information.

Test out your scare level with a terrifying tour of the haunted mansion and a trip through the zombie maze.
