Four High School students recently received national recognition for their academic success.

Kevin Wang, of W.T. Clarke High School, and East Meadow High School students Nicole Newberger, Gillian Pitzer and Natalie Weiss were all selected as National Merit Scholarship Commended Students.

They were among 34,000 students who were recognized by the nonprofit organization that aims to honor academically talented students by conducting nationwide academic scholarship programs.

Wang, Newberger, Pitzer and Weiss placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition after taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test.
