Kids First continues holiday tradition

Snaps children’s photos, free of charge

Dozens of children spent the morning of Dec. 10 posing for holiday photos in a festive atmosphere inside the Leon J. Campo Salisbury Center. It could only mean one thing — Kids First, an agency that provides early-intervention and preschool special education services for children, was again taking holiday photos for families, free of charge.

The organization, which calls the Salisbury Center its home, started the tradition in 2012. Because Kids First specializes in children who have special needs, its educators understand the trying nature of families who cannot take their children to a crowded setting, like a mall, for holiday photos.

The past two years, photographer Rich Matarazzo lent his services for the event. This year, Susan Grieco, who does freelance photography for the Herald, took the helm.

This year, Kids First expanded its services by adding a preschool for both typically developing children and those with special needs, taught by a special education teacher.

It will also host its annual summer camp, Camp Kids, which they say closely models a preschool program, and integrates children who receive early intervention services with those who do not.
