LIRR offers extra train service for early commute

Treacherous storm conditions prompt three early trains on Babylon branch

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced on its website Thursday that the Long Island Rail Road would offer four additional eastbound trains out of Penn Station, three of which are heading to Babylon, in the early afternoon so commuters may head home early due to treacherous winter conditions.

On the Babylon branch, the LIRR dispatch three extra trains at 2:32, 3 and 3:31 p.m. The 2:32 train was scheduld to stop at Jamaica, then proceed to all stops on its way to Babylon, while the other two trains were scheduled to make their first stops in Lynbrook and Rockville Centre.
