Fly with the Owls was a success

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Fly with the Owls Run/Walk, I would like to thank the Village of Lynbrook and the Lynbrook School District for their assistance in making our 10th annual event a tremendous success. Through the generosity and support of the village, the school district and entire community, this event grows bigger and better every year.
All net proceeds from the run are returned to the community through our support of youth and civic activities, including the post-prom breakfast and the middle school triathlon program.
We look forward to continuing our service to the Lynbrook community for many years to come. Lynbrook is truly a special place to live, work and play. Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy holiday season.

A winning recipe

To the Editor:
East Rockaway and its scholar athletes have a lot to celebrate!
Congratulations to the Lady Rocks’ varsity volleyball team for their Cinderella season, winning the Nassau County Class C championship by defeating Carle Place for their first title win since 2011. Their inspiring season of victory is a credit to the hours of practice on the field and studies in the classroom.
And kudos also to the junior varsity Rocks’ undefeated, 8-0 season on the gridiron. This is a tremendous feat considering the strides the team made between the summer and first game day.
Both teams’ success this season had to do with preparation and teamwork.  After some were concerned with a rebuilding year, the chemistry between the students and their passion for sport was a success. It’s exactly the type of winning recipe that brings home championships.
Congratulations to every player, their parents, and of course Lady Rocks coach Ksenia Ferrand and junior varsity coach Tom Dwyer.  You’ve done East Rockaway and yourselves proud.
