Little League underway in East Meadow

Kids lace up the cleats for opening weekend

It’s Springtime in East Meadow, which can only mean one thing — the beginning of the Little League season.

Sunny weather prevailed last Saturday and Sunday, allowing for the East Meadow Baseball Softball Association to successfully host its very first weekend of the season. Boys and girls of various ages dusted off their cleats, bats and gloves, bringing them to the complex on the corner of Merrick Avenue and Front Street to get back into the swing of things.

The Herald was there to catch the boys — and girls — of summer in action.

The association's little league parade is set for April 26. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m., when Little Leaguers assemble at the Prospect Park Pool at the intersection of East Meadow Avenue to begin their march to the baseball complex.
