NCPD: Mandee robbed at gunpoint

Robber tied hands of two employees and two customers, police say

Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Mandee clothing store at 1976 Hempstead Turnpike in the East Meadow Plaza at gunpoint on Monday, and then tied up two employees and two customers before fleeing.

Nassau County police said the man, described as black, six-feet-tall, with a thin build and between 25 and 35 years old, entered the store at 3:35 p.m. and displayed a black handgun. He demanded cash from two female employees, and then tied their hands together. He allegedly did the same to two female customers, aged 57 and 59.

Police did not say how much money was removed. The 57-year-old customer was transported to a local hospital for a right hand abrasion and chest discomfort.

When approached at the store on Wednesday, a a female employee of Mandee who identified herself as the manager said she was not authorized to discuss the incident with the media.
