More than 600 runners could be seen blazing down Newbridge Road last Saturday, all in support of individuals with autism.

The Greater Long Island Running Club hosted its seventh annual Blazing Trails 4-Autism four-mile run and walk on Nov. 22, which started and ended outside St. Raphael’s Parish.

The event was held in conjunction with Eden II Programs, which houses its Genesis School for students with autism at the Newbridge Road parish. Proceeds of the event will benefit Eden II’s programs and services.

Christopher Koegel, 31, of Malverne, won the race, at 21 minutes and 58 seconds. The top female finisher was Suzie Petryk, 17, of Huntington, who completed the four miles in 25 minutes and 48 seconds.

The first East Meadow runner to cross the finish line was Ira Kaplan, who finished 22nd overall.
