Salisbury marks the holidays

CASA lights the tree, menorah

It wouldn’t truly feel like the holiday season without the annual Christmas tree and menorah lighting in Salisbury, hosted by the Community Association of Stewart Avenue.

Hundreds of residents gathered on a frigid afternoon at the grassy intersection of Carman Avenue and Lake Lane, next to Carvel, on Dec. 12, to mark the occasion. The W.T. Clarke High School chorus stood atop the Town of Hempstead’s mobile stage, serenading the large audience with traditional Christmas carols and holiday songs.

Representatives from local school clubs, like Bowling Green K-Kids and Clarke Builders Club, were also there to soak in the holiday fun.

Finally, it was time to light the giant tree and menorah, and then Santa Claus, transported via the East Meadow Fire Department, stopped by to greet children.
