3. 1 in 9: The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition. Since 1990, 1 in 9 has been fighting the cancer epidemic through community education and environmental action. 1 in 9’s Hewlett House opened on East Rockaway Road in Hewlett in 2001, in a 300-year-old farmhouse formerly owned by the Hewlett family. It is now a safe haven where breast cancer patients can find support and vital treatment information. Find out more at www.HewlettHouse.org.
