Holy Trinity students uninjured after bus crash

16 taken to hospital, discharged

Two school buses carrying students from Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville were involved in an accident with a third vehicle on Newbridge Road in East Meadow on Monday.

A Nassau University Medical Center spokeswoman said 14 students were transported to the hospital’s emergency department by ambulance or bus for evaluation. Two additional students were brought in by parents who wanted their children to be evaluated. All 16 were discharged following medical evaluation, as there were no serious injuries.

The buses were traveling southbound on Newbridge Road, south of Hempstead Turnpike when the accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. The third vehicle involved was also traveling southbound.

Six fire departments, including East Meadow, Hicksville, Wantagh, Bellmore, Levittown and North Merrick responded to the accident.
