Student-made design earns accolades

Daniela Valdes, a senior at W.T. Clarke High School who also studies graphic arts at Nassau BOCES Barry Tech, was one of four winners in a recent contest that allowed her to showcase her creative skills.

Her colorful design she submitted to the Skills USA’s 2015 Regional Pin Design Contest will be honored in March in a formal ceremony.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry leaders who work together to prepare high school and college students to be leaders in the business world. The program also helps establish industry standards for job-skill training and instills a respect for community service in its participants.
